SLAPSTICON 2008's Arlington, Virginia, location is directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. If traveling in by air, there are three major airports from which to choose. The closest is Reagan National Airport, which is a short cab or subway ride to the Rosslyn area of Arlington, where SLAPSTICON 2008 will be taking place. Be sure to check out budget airlines that serve Reagan National. Washington Dulles International is about 20 miles west of Arlington. It is also served by several budget airlines. Although there is no rail link from Dulles into Rosslyn, shuttles to Metrorail and other destinations are available, and an express city bus provides service from the airport to Rosslyn. Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) is the farthest away (closer to Baltimore than Washington), but very often attractive fares can be obtained by flying in and out of this airport. Shuttle service is also available from BWI. Amtrak, MARC (Maryland commuter trains) and a city bus provide transportation to the Washington, DC metro. We are pleased to announce that the Rosslyn@Key Bridge Holiday Inn will once again be the official hotel of the 2008 Slapsticon. They have generously held their special discount rate at the same level it was last year, $99 plus taxes for the evenings of Wednesday, July 16 through Sunday, July 20. This is a limited block and when it is filled, you will have to pay the Holiday Inn's regular rate, which is almost double. So if you think there's a better than even chance that you will be coming to Slapsticon '08, book it now. This is the best rate you will find at a reputable chain in the Washington DC area. Even if you spend more time sightseeing than filmgoing, grab it! Any unbooked rooms in the block will revert to the Holiday Inn's regular rate after June 15. The Rosslyn@Key Bridge Holiday Inn is very close to the Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre, the Slapsticon '08 screening venue. A doorknob-to-doorknob trial walk clocked in at 7 minutes even.
